My name is Kim Smith. I have been designing websites since January of 1998. While I live in West Michigan (near Grand Rapids), my clients are located all over the United States. Communication is not a problem, since most communication takes place via email, with an occasional phone call. This is true even for my local clients.
 
I do not use a tool such as Front Page to design "cookie-cutter" websites. Each website is unique and should be treated that way. All websites are hand-coded with HTML. Hand-coded sites are cleaner looking and the search engine robots (spiders) that crawl websites index them better with the search engines. I also utilize Cascading Style Sheets and Server Side Includes so that the sites I design are fast loading and easy to make changes to, which saves the client money. I also do some work with Java Script, Perl, and CGI programming. New techniques will be added as they are perfected.
 
The diplomas listed below are from some of the online classes I have successfully completed. The associations and memberships are mostly design-related and are sources of continuing education, as well as feedback from other designers around the globe.
